The 3 Different Sites of the World Grand Prix in Pixar's Cars 2 |
‘Ello there Jukeboxers! This is Kimberly for my fourth post for the genre “Children’s Music.”
If you happen to be a major Pixar fan like myself, you probably have heard that Pixar is currently working on Incredibles 2 and, despite low ratings for the first two movies, Cars 3. Cars 2 came out in 2011 and centered on the idea of the first ever World Grand Prix. The World Grand Prix takes both Lightning McQueen and Mater around the world to Japan, England, and Italy. In my opinion, the idea for Cars 2 wasn’t very original as it seemed to draw heavily from the James Bond movies. When I first watched Cars 2, I was entertained but wasn’t quite satisfied by the plot. However, during the credits a splendid song called “Collision of Worlds,” played, and that is the song that I’m reviewing for you all today.
The main voice behind “Collision of Worlds,” is Brad Paisley who is known for being a country singer. To get an idea of his sound, I would recommend listening to the song “Letter to Me.” Some of you are probably thinking that you won’t even like “Collision of Worlds” just because the main singer is a country singer. However, “Collision of Worlds” is more than just a typical honky-tonk country song. The song also features Robbie Williams, who is an English Singer formally from the band Take That. For those who haven’t heard “Collision of Worlds” before you could probably guess that the song is an American British duet.
The theme behind “Collision of Worlds,” is very James Bond-esque, which I think in this case is a clever twist for the song. “Collision of Worlds,” is about the cultural differences between America and England. The chorus isn’t too ground breaking since it repeats the title line, but there is some variation within the chorus which is greatly appreciated. However, I think the hallmark of the song is its verses which are mainly spoken. The verses are spoken in a fast manner, comparing American things to English things. For example, one of the lines is, “Abbey Road, Route 66, CIA to the MI6.” There are so many cool comparisons within the verses that you and your friends will all want to learn the lyrics. It is also a great excuse to try out your British accent (if you’re from the U.S.). Overall, I’m giving “Collision of Worlds” 4.5 records because although the chorus is simple, the verses are witty, fun and exciting.
Whether you’re from America, England, or any other country for that matter, I think you’ll find that “Collision of Worlds” is pretty much anybody’s “cup of tea.” Until next time, please enjoy “Collision of Worlds.” J
