"Love Again" Pentatonix Original Song

Awesome photo of Pentatonix

Hello, JUKEBOXERS!! It's Jewel with a new series of posts!! Don't worry, I'm still posting on cover artists, but instead of reviewing their covers, I'll be reviewing their original songs!! So keep a look out for original songs by your favorite cover artists. You should recognize the artists because I've written reviews on their work before.

For my first post in this series, I'll be reviewing "Love Again" an original song by Pentatonix. If you want to know a little about this group, click here to read the bio I wrote for their cover of "Say Something" by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera.

I'd like to start my review by saying "bravo" to these five artists. This is certainly a difficult song to sing a Capella. I mean, how do you make these sounds with your mouth?!? It's obviously possible, but for a person like me, who can barely even sing "well", this is on an entirely new level. Getting a song of this nature to sound full without instruments is an accomplishment in itself, so I give the background vocals a five. I'll also give the lead vocalist, Mitch Grassi, a five because this song has a wide range, but that didn't stop him. Of course, he does have a high voice range to begin with, but trust me when I say it's hard to go from mid-range to either end of one's range (especially to the high end).

In addition to the sound, the video is also amazing. However, in my humble opinion, I would've gone a different direction with it. This song is about learning to love again, so I'd think its video would represent something along the lines of that. The reason I'm giving the video a four is because, while I would've done something different, I didn't write or sing the song, and I believe the video perfectly suits Pentatonix. Not only does it fit the Pentatonix style, it also goes along with the sound of the song itself.

Here is their official video:

Here are the lyrics:

Taste the pain right on my tongue
Novocaine to make me numb
Don't you worry 'cause the night is young
Dance until the morning sun
Morning sun
Morning sun
Morning, morning, morning-ning-ning-ning-ning-ning

I am at a loss for words
Can't believe I let you pull me down to this place
You stole my heart and soul
Just to think that I had dried those tears from your face
I've played such a foolish game
Feeling you were everything to me and more
I don't mean to point the blame
But baby you have hurt me to my very core

You don't know why
You don't know how
You don't know when to love again
You let me in then shut me out
You have to learn to love again

Learn to love again
Learn to love again
Learn to love again
Ah

Take me away from here
To a place where my feelings don't go to waste
We were in the atmosphere
Flying high above the stars that shone in your face

So I'm running running baby
From this hurting that you've given me
All through the night
Are we dancin' baby dancin' so your pretty face is hard to see
Tonight, tonight, tonight (Dancin' through the night)

You don't know why
You don't know how
You don't know when to love again
You let me in then shut me out
You have to learn to love again

Imma teach you how to love
Imma teach you
Imma teach you how to love
Imma teach you

Learn to love again (Imma teach you how to love)
Learn to love again (Imma teach you)
Learn to love again, love again, love again (Imma teach you to love)

Taste the pain right on my tongue
Novocaine to make me numb
Don't you worry 'cause the night is young
Dance until the morning sun

Taste the pain right on my tongue
(You don't know why, you don't know how)
Novocaine to make me numb
(You don't know when to love again)
Don't you worry 'cause the night is young
(You let me in then shut me out)
Dance until the morning sun
(You have to learn to love again)
Morning sun (Love again)
Morning sun (Love again)
Morning, morning sun (Love, love again)

Imma teach you how to love
You don't know why
You don't know how
You don't know when to love again
You let me in then shut me out
You have to learn to love again
