"What A Drag" by Bear Hands

Bear Hands members: Dylan Rau (vocals, guitar), TJ Orscher (drums), Val Loper (bass), and Ted Feldman (guitar).

Hey, guys! It's Lindsey here for my eighth review!

On account of the concert I went to last night, I decided it would be appropriate to review a song by this band today. My friends and I saw them live last night at the Observatory in Santa Ana, and it was really a great concert. Despite the technical difficulties (the keyboard was dropped on the floor before the show began and refused to work at all), the songs were amazing and the whole vibe was truly special. The lead singer congratulated us all on being the audience for "the most f****d up show" they had ever played and for being a great audience. And for the encore, they played this song.

Bear Hands was formed in 2006 when Dylan Rau and Ted Feldman met while attending Wesleyan University. They later added TJ Orscher and Val Loper to the band, both previously associated with the hardcore punk scene. According to Orscher, all the members of the band had an instant connection.
"...when we met up and played for the first time, as cliche as it may be, everything just clicked. We started writing material together, fleshing songs out and started playing some local shows around NYC. We fight like brothers and love like mothers. The rest is magic."
This song is the first single the band released when they signed with Cantora Records in 2010. To me, it's a great representation of the band's indie rock sound, and it was one of the first songs I listened to by them. Take a listen and tell me what you think in the comments! I won't provide lyrics for this one.

Also, here is a poorly taken photo of the adorable lead singer, Dylan Rau, from last night's concert:

Rating: 4 RECORDS (But their live performance is an easy 5)
